Police end “Wake Up Call” initiative

WRIC is reporting that Richmond Police have decided to end the “Wake Up Call” initiative. Yesterday the Rutherford Institute sent the RPD a letter questioning the constitutionality of the initiative. I haven’t seen anything official from the police yet, but will update this post when I do.

Richmond Police Department releases statement on recent violence

Two shot on the 3900 block of Chamberlayne

WRIC is now reporting that one of the victims has life-threatening injuries: At least one victim is being treated for life-threatening injuries. And NBC12 has a bit more info: Police found two victims, both men in their twenties. One was found in the hallway of an apartment complex, the other on a sidewalk nearby.

Sector 412 participating in “Wake Up Call” program

John Marshall high school student murdered

Update The RPD have identified the victim as Keona M. Johnson, 17, a student at John Marshall high school. WTVR is reporting that Johnson was not the intended target and that the shooting was over a game of dice.
