Seventy-five volunteers hauled away 45 tires and three full garbage trucks of trash and brush on the morning of Saturday, March 23.

We cleaned alleyways (click HERE for a list) and the grounds of Richmond Community High School.

Stefan Reed, (pictured with tires) Deputy Director of Environment and Clean Energy for the Alliance for Progressive Values, will re-purpose many of the tires picked up today in his garden. Stefan explained, “the tires will make charming planters.  They’re easy to make and ideal for plants that require more root space.”

Added Buster Johnson, President of the North Barton Heights Homeowners Association, “It was a great day for the neighborhood. The beautiful spring weather encouraged a fantastic turn-out, and now the alleys are clear of debris that collected all winter long.”
