John Marshall high school student murdered

The RPD have identified the victim as Keona M. Johnson, 17, a student at John Marshall high school. WTVR is reporting that Johnson was not the intended target and that the shooting was over a game of dice.

From the RPD:

At approximately 12:18 a.m., the Richmond Police Department received a call of a shot fired in the 4000 block of Old Brook Road. Officers arrived and found a deceased female in a parking lot of an apartment complex.

The victim is described as a black female in her late teens or early 20’s. She appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound.

The last murder in the Northside was one month ago at 3900 Old Brook Road–only one block from this homicide. This murder brings the city’s total to seven for 2012.
