Seven Hills School mural project
The Frederick Douglass Court/Edgehill neighborhood is a thriving and diverse community in north Richmond. Seven Hills School wishes to raise awareness about the neighborhood and celebrate its history and school’s role in the life of the community.
Over the course of the spring semester, with the guidance of school faculty, students conducted research and recorded oral histories of long-time residents for historical background information to develop the themes and concepts to be captured in the mural. Richmond artist, Ed Trask, has begun to bring this research to life through art by helping to draft images the students chose to include in the mural. Beginning on June 1, Mr. Trask transferred the draft images onto one of the campus buildings. The students, teachers, parents and neighborhood volunteers are in the process of painting the mural. The mural is scheduled for completion by mid-June.
