Michael Paul Williams tackles Azalea Mall
November 18th, 2010 I said: “It seems like every six months someone realizes Azalea Mall is a big desolate wasteland and that we should probably be doing something with it.” And, Lo!, here we are nearly six months later and Michael Paul Williams at the RTD has this to say:
The mall site remains vacant, save the Azalea Garden Center, a church in a former bank branch and the oddly preserved mall directory. There’s no movement. Even the rumor mill is dormant.
More from November 2010, and April 2010.

My thought has been for a LONG time that this is the perfect location for a doctor’s office complex, with rehab, etc. Next to Westminster Canterbury, close to downtown and interstate connections, etc. We don’t need another retail mall there!!!
What would be great is a TRADER JOE’S in this location. There are lots of neighborhoods here to support it, and the closest ones are in either Short Pump or Williamsburg.
