This two-day fun-filled event will begin on Friday with Councilman Chris Hilbert serving as the honorary master of ceremonies and pulling the switch to light-up MacArthur Avenue for the holiday season. This will be followed by the drinking of hot apple cider around fire pits and a reading of “A Visit from St. Nicholas (also know as “Twas the Night Before Christmas”), by Clement Clarke Moore – as performed by Helen Campbell.

Festivities for Saturday will include Santa Claus (who will arrive by parade down MacArthur Avenue at Noon), music, arts and crafts created by local artisans and displays and vehicles from the Richmond Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Richmond Police Department, Virginia State Police and U. S. Marine Corps Reserve.

There will also be a place for donations for the nonprofit Toys for Tots program. Children are encouraged to bring a new or gently used toys and register to win a new bike.
