Bringing back the Bellevue Theatre
RVANew has a more in-depth look at the old Bellevue Theatre — if you’ll remember we ran a quick story about this last month.
Built in 1932, the Bellevue Theater sits on MacArthur Avenue next to Dot’s Back Inn. From 1957 to the late 1960s the Bellevue was the location of the New Dominion Barn Dance, a popular country music radio show featuring the likes of Hank Williams and a young, beardless Willie Nelson.

I would love to volunteer in order to help restore this theater to its glory! I grew up in the area, but sadly, I never got to enjoy the Bellevue Theater as it was before my time. I have always been curious though.
So it seems as not a whole lot will be going on at Samis grotis seeing as CAPS shut down the last event there due to, as best can be determined, a poor heating system. To those residents of north richmond, who will most likely hear random gunfire at some point of the evening, breath a sigh of relief, your local law forces are at work, you may have unknowingly had a pretty good time at a potentially chilly place. I always knew that place was cool.
