Fugitive Task Force makes arrests on 2900 block of Noble
There was some talk about this incident yesterday. I followed up with Sector Lt. Corrigan (who I met in person last night) and he has sent the following:
The Fugitive Task Force located and arrested wanted fugitive Deforris Early. Early had 9 outstanding warrants on file. SID Detectives responded to the scene.
Also in the residence was another known drug target Adrian Allen. Approximately 4 Grams of crack cocaine was present in plain view. A search warrant was obtained for the residence by SID.
As a result of the search an additional 28 grams of crack cocaine was recovered. Allen was charged with PWID Cocaine.
Thank you to the readers who brought this up.

Ross – there was a pretty heated discussion during the last Battery Park Assoc. meeting concerning this location. Is there any word on if the city has any recourse in evicting the residents or holding the land owner responsible for what’s going on in the house?
Tyler that has be address via Commonwealth attorney’s office. Usually the owner is sent a nuisance property letter. It a warning to the owner.
I don’t think the owner lives there, the 2 guys that got busted, well I don’t think they’re going to be out for a long time. Unless 32 grams WID and priers is a slap on the wrist. Also I think the name is ” Adrian Allen Jr.” police should be careful in there report.
Here let’s talk about the bigger picture: what tends to happen is the grandmother or relative owns a piece of property, the young adults (grand kids) live there, usually for free and to make money they sell drugs. The grandmother or adult either doesn’t know they are selling drugs or turns a blind eye. They are not going to kick them out into the street, so the rest of the nieghbors have to put up with the activity that surrounds the house. Is that right, no, just the facts. I know this very well, it’s the same on my block. I’ve been here for ten years, I’ve known these kids since they were in there early teens. They get no discipline or structure, (father is usually not around) and they are left to there own devises. The schools aren’t the best around here as we all know (see doc: “Waiting for Superman”) Maybe it’s about looking at the way schools are run in the innercity. Also I think the teachers union looks out more for themselfs then the kids. Whatever the reason I think it’s time to start thinking outside the box. One solution might be to train kids in a trade to give them an alternative to getting mix up in the drug trade.
Teachers can’t undo everything that happens at home. When kids are entering schools with poor or no literacy skills, the time bomb has already started. If parents don’t understand how to be adults, how to offer structure, how to guide children through life, then the schools can only offer basic care and instruction. I watch the wild elementary-age kids on my street running up and down the block at 10 p.m. when they have school the next morning. What chance does that teacher have the next morning when the kids walk in unprepared and exhausted?
There’s a teacher’s union in Richmond? Where? Sign me up!!!
Virginia is a right to work state, which thankfully means teachers unions don“t have the level of clout that they do in other states, even so it is incredibly difficult for deserving teachers to lose their jobs for poor performance. On the flip side it is a lot to ask even the best teacher to make sure that the 150 kids a teacher may teach in a day all turn out to be model citizens even though they may only see them for an hour or two a day.
It would be awesome if rps would shift there focus from teaching 90% of the students to college bound (considering what the real percentage is) expand the tech center, focus on teaching 80% of students a trade- plumbing, electricians, computer skills, etc!!! give them a chance to make legitimate money. sorry ranting, fed up with the school system.
Ben I agree with you but first RPS needs the graduation rate up from 50%. They are actually proud of that number cause it used to be 30%. Elizabeth is right there is so much these kids are missing by time they hit 1st grade many of them are behind so far behind.
For the 2010 class, RPS had an on-time graduation rate of 72% and a cohort graduation rate of 74.6%. The state-wide on-time graduation rate was 85.5%. (via)
Ok let’s turn away from the schools for a second, how about making it so much hell for a drug house, that they stop. The owner that lives or doesn’t live there along with drug dealers themselfs. Also the thugs along BBP who run off anybody thinking about starting business whare someone could get a legit job.
Max, what would it take for that to really happen on BBP? If no one can manage to shut down R&S, if the patrolling officer is scared of conflict and won’t make eye contact with drug dealers, then how can BBP ever turn around?
E I wish I knew, thought we could throw a few ideas around.
Well a group of us should get together, and pool our information that we have on the individual hot spots. And then request a meeting with the Chief of Police with list of issues.
we were able to shut down a drug house on my street (in southern barton heights) a lot of phone calls to the police and city were made and after two years the city came in and shut it down – it was an illegal boarding house and half the people living in it were either using or dealing….
on another note of discussion – why do people blame teachers when children do not turn out as expected – it is up to the parents to be nosey into their child’s activities and discipline them.. as a mother of two boys – you better believe I am nosey as hell into what they are doing and what goes on at school with them – if they misbehave at school – I do not expect the teacher to fully discipline them – it is their job to tell me what happened and I take care of it from there……
@ max fisher……………….You don’t know who these people are and what they got going for them……………it look bad for the outside looking in, if you dont know them you should not say that they dont have no family structure…………..take a look in the mirror at yourself
you cant violate our constitutional rights……………..and expect a judge to convict somebody…………its called due process and right now thats not happening so now………………mind your business and stay out of ours
Ydafucuwannakno….funny…..
