International Alliance of Guardian Angels introduces new Richmond Chapter
The press conference will take place at 2PM on Saturday, September 4th in the Gabriel Prosser Park, 3100 Meadowbridge Rd., Richmond, VA 23222 (Highland Park).
Most people recognize the Guardian Angels from news reports of young volunteers patrolling New York’s most dangerous subway lines and streets. It is unavoidable that people associate us with street patrols. While this is our strongest and core program, people mostly forget that the Guardian Angels originated from a group of volunteer street cleaners.

Fighting crime is only one of society’s problems we face. Patrolling the streets is only one of the strategies we use. Our organization is committed to improving our communities and dealing with all kinds of problems.
The Chapter Commander, Assistant Chapter Commander and a host of fellow Guardian Angels from Richmond and Chapters from other states, will be available to speak with everyone after the press conference.

That’s interesting. I’ve been fascinated by these guys for a while, didn’t know that they were still around or ever in areas outside of NY.
Hi John, yes, the Guardian Angels are still around and in full swing. This is now an International 501c3 Organization with Chapters in Africa, Japan, Europe, Mexico, and other places around the world. The Guardian Angels from New York, DC and Baltimore came down during the sniper attacks and helped pump gas for people that were afraid to get out of their cars. We’re now here in the Richmond VA area to do what we can to reduce the crime and bring more youth activities to the area. If you are in the area and would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Jo White, Chapter Commander (804) 937-6836.
Back when I was still living in Pittsburgh I routinely saw them patrolling down town. I think it would be great to see the Guardian Angels patrolling neighborhoods in North Richmond, especially Battery Park/Barton Heights and along Brookland Park Blvd and parts of Chamberylayne Ave. The YMCA or the new North Side Family Learning Center would be great places to have a program for kids.
