Library closes to prepare for the North Avenue branch opening
As of tonight you’ll no longer be able to return books to the temporary library site at Norrell Elementary. They’ll be closing down. To prepare for the reopening of the permanent branch on North Avenue.
Good news: if you didn’t get your books back tonight, you can keep them until October 11 — when the branch reopens — with no late fees.

The Richmond Public Library will close its temporary Norrell Elementary School site at 5 p.m. today to prepare for the reopening of the renovated North Avenue library. The newly renovated North Avenue library will reopen to the public on October 11.
“We are grateful to Richmond Public Schools for allowing us to continue library services at Norrell Elementary School during this interim period. Our staff is now preparing for the opening of the renovated North Avenue library, and we look forward to unveiling the upgrades and improvements to Richmond residents in the coming weeks,” said Richmond Public Library Director Harriet Coalter.
Those who are unable to return library books to the Norrell Elementary School site prior to today’s closing can return them to the Main Library at 101 East Franklin Street, or the Ginter Park location at 1200 Westbrook Avenue. Library books can also be held until the October 11 reopening of the North Avenue library, with no late fines incurred.
