City installs video cameras to catch illegal dumpers
The Cannon Creek Greenway, which ultimately will be part of the East Coast Greenway, has long been a local dumping ground. Despite annual community clean-up efforts the city has taken an additional step: video cameras.
WTVR has the story:
So, what now? City Council member Chris Hilbert say they’re investing 30-thousand dollars for 5 surveillance cameras to catch illegal dumpers.
“I want everyone who would consider dumping in our City to know that this camera could be on them and then they could be caught and they won’t know where they are because they’re going to be disguised,” said Hilbert.
Hilbert says that area will soon be a family destination with a bike trail, pedestrian walkway and an outdoor amphitheatre. Making it the centerpiece of the City’s Northside. So, do neighbors think cameras will make a difference?

I wish they would put cameras in front of some drug houses.
