2010 proposed real estate tax rates
Yesterday four different real estate tax rates were introduced at City Council:
* $1.23
* $1.22
* $1.21
* $1.20 (current rate)
* $1.19
Knowing that the city faces a thirty million dollar budget shortfall, I don’t see Council keeping the rate the same (or lowering it). As “Northside property values stayed roughly the same last year”:http://northrichmondnews.com/news/2010/01/26/a-look-at-the-2010-northside-real-estate-assessments/, it looks like we’ll all be getting a larger bill next year.
Council will vote on the new rate on April 12th.
“CHPN has an ongoing discussion on the matter”:http://chpn.net/news/2010/03/08/city-council-considers-raising-real-estate-tax_12558/ as does “Hills and Heights”:http://hillsandheights.org/2010/03/08/real-estate-tax-rates-proposed-increase-possible/.
