Council to discuss Cannon Creek Greenway tomorrow

A little background on the Cannon Creek Greenway: Department of Parks & Rec has submitted a grant application to VDOT for the funds to construct a bicycle/pedestrian commuter trail. Council is looking to identify matching funds in the Capital Improvement Plan.

The Greenway’s “ten-foot wide bicycle and pedestrian trail, once completed, will be incorporated into the East Coast Greenway as it enters the northern portion of the City of Richmond, linking the Highland Park and Barton Heights communities to Shockoe Bottom, downtown Richmond and the Capital Trail along the James River.”

To support the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities’ grant application to the Virginia Department of Transportation for Transportation Enhancement grant funds for the construction of a bicycle and pedestrian commuter trail, family recreation and environmental education features, landscaping, and scenic beautification of the Cannon Creek Greenway; and to express the Council’s commitment to work cooperatively with the City
Administration.

About City Council meetings

The City Council meets in informal work session at 3:00 PM and in formal session at 6:00 PM, on the second and fourth Monday of each month, in the City Hall 2nd Floor Council Chamber, located at 900 East Broad Street. All meetings of the Council are open to the public.
