Leaf collection signs spotted
Looks like the City’s leaf collection program — previously suspended indefinitely — is back in action. I spotted signs on E. Seminary and Brook for leaf collection on Thursday.
For your convenience, the city’s vacuum leaf collection guidelines:
- Rake leaves to your property line.
- Do not rake leaves into the street.
- Leaves must be placed out for collection by the start date indicated for your route.
- Keep leaf piles less than 2 feet in height.
- Keep leaves away from ditches, pipes, and culverts.
- NO DIRT, ROCKS, METAL OR BRANCHES; these items will prevent crews from collecting your piles.

Despite notices to the contrary, it seems that leaves in Bellevue are being picked up ONLY from the street gutters, NOT from the property line. Hence, we still have piles and piles of leaves on the medians of streets that have been “cleaned.”
Wait are you serious? It says right on the city website to NOT put them in the gutter. I’ll email someone at the city and see what I can find out.
