Great News! However, remaining sectors of Northside’s crime rates are up. For instance, Sector 412 is up 7%.
The city big wigs had a meeting at Trinity Bapist Church this morning, GRIP, Gang Reducation Intervention Program, no one from the nieghborhood or the neighborhood civic assocation was invited.
The funny thing was that while the meeting was going on with all the police and news crew around next block north, the local drug dealer was getting his supplies of drugs. Good thing all those police were there to keep that from happening. I wish I could afford to move out the City.
How is GRIP coming to Northside when they are broke?
And where have they shown they are successful? The one stop in SS never really got off the ground and is now closed, not sure what they really do, is it jsut going to be smoke blown??
Would have LOVED to have been at that meeting.
Here’s a link to what the Times-Dispatch had to say about the meeting… sounds like it could have a positive impact in the area.

According to the article linked above, these folks are looking for a physical space to house the program. I wonder if Norrell Annex might be a fit?
That would be a good fit and the city wouldn’t have to pay rent. But I think the president of the merchant assocation is trying to push them to have it at the CDC space.
I think that should be for commerical development not social working.
