The Richmond Fair (maybe) starts (sometime)
Update
Once more it appears the fair organizers have either pushed back the Richmond Fair or cancelled it entirely. The whole thing seems rather unorganized at this point. An interesting quote from the organizer:
“I’m not an economics major, but I know if you give somebody a good value, everybody will be happy. That’s all we’re trying to do. Various branches of y’all’s government made it overly difficult to do business,” Lovell said.
“Some of the people we dealt with the city were forthright . . . and fair and they didn’t mislead you down an endless road. In other branches of the government, they need to be exposed for who they are. Whether they are dishonest or whether they are incompetent. It’s one of the two; I don’t know which one it is,” he said.
The Richmond Fair website says “FAIR DATES PENDING….. STAY TUNED!”
Original Post
After sorting out some concerns with the RPD regarding security, the Richmond Fair is all ready to go starting this Sunday continuing through Sunday the 26th.
The fair features live music every day and attractions including a petting zoo, pig races, bottle fed animals(!), and rides.
The fair is located in and around the Diamond and costs 8$ for adults and 6$ for children 5 – 12.
Make sure to check out their pricing page because there are a couple good deals throughout the week.

oh richmond fair, oh richmond fair
your dates are ever changing
Maybe one of the reasons why the RPD can’t assigned patrol men to the fair on Friday and Saturday is cause of the club over on Northside that has teen events every Friday and Saturday night. RPD assigns at least nine partol cars to them to make sure the teen events don’t get out of hand. There has been shootings over there in the past.
Theme of this weekend TEEN parties is: Bikinia Tops and short shorts.
Richard, what club are you talking about?
There are always much larger powers at work in each and every given situation with people, places and things. Attitudes are the only thing we contribute in life and the only effectual changes that last. Allowing a fair to help boost the economy, by increasing hotel, restaurant, gift shop, local transit, etc…would have a positive impact. Negative attitudes express concern that the fair will make money and the city won’t??? um….I am sure I am not the only one grinning…cute remark, but not a well thought out one. Another brillaint deduction that permit compliance was at last minute. If last minutes were not available for use, where do they go? Who collects them? Are they rollover minutes? The point is, you want a fair or not? If you do then all get onboard to a common goal with like attitudes to make it happen for the common wellfare of all involved. Alternatively, the fair will find a more receptive town, venue, police department, etc…Attitude not intelligence or wisdom is driving the barriers erected in this dilemma.
i think its a good idea to have tight security at the fair, if the promoter was smart he would too
TD has a story today saying that now it’s postponed until the fall….
