Police move into new Chamberlayne Avenue facility

January 11, 2009 · Posted in

From the Richmond Police Department’s 4th Precinct’s January newsletter:

After what seemed like forever, the new 4th Precinct building at 2219 Chamberlayne Avenue is complete. Although we’re still unpacking, officers are reporting for duty, having their roll calls and rolling through Sector 412 on a regular basis as they deploy throughout 4th Precinct.

The new Precinct building will also house the Richmond Police Special Events Division, which includes the Mounted, K-9, Aviation, Traffic, and Motorcycle officers.

Complete with offices for staff, a gym, a community room, conference rooms and a variety of other specialized space, the new precinct also incorporates “state of the art” technology with a new projection system, new computers and other equipment.

Precinct personnel and area residents alike have good reason to be excited about the addition of the new precinct to the Chamberlayne Avenue corridor.

Although Fourth Precinct has a new address, all of its phone numbers remain the same. Citizens may still contact Fourth Precinct at its main number, 646-4105. The fax number remains 646-4106. A community open house and media walk-through for the new Fourth Precinct will be scheduled in January 2009.

  1. Although the new building is fancy and nice i was saddened to hear that they are packing in SO many departments that the police will be housed in an area that is actually smaller then they came from.

Even though it is not as dismal as that gross basement they were in before, it is going to be tough to squeeze them all in there.
