Homes in Lakeside, Barton Heights touted as great finds for lower costs
Answering a question on Richmond.com about finding good homes for under $200,000 in Richmond neighborhoods, realtor Jennie Barrett Shaw pointed to Lakeside and Barton Heights:
Barton Heights and other parts of the Northside offer large, older homes, a great sense of community and easy proximity to the Fan and Virginia Commonwealth University. In fact this area is becoming popular among students and new grads, mostly due to this proximity and relative affordability.
Keep in mind that you don’t need to live IN the city to be close to the city either. There are a few affordable options that are easily within your 30 minute drive to work … and to all your friends who still rent in the Fan.
One great find for under $200,000 in near-in Henrico County is Lakeside and its surrounding areas. This is the area just north of Bellevue, and in and around Bryan Park. You’re just minutes from I-95 for your downtown commute, near some interesting shops and great restaurants, yet you’ll get a little more space for your money in this part of the county. And some other good news: county taxes are about a third less than those in the City of Richmond!

She forgot to include Battery Park. The part has been restored. Battery Park is the only nieghborhood in the Northside that has tennis courts, basketball courts and a swimming pool. There are also walking paths in the park.
Less then 2 miles from downtown Richmond. Many homes are well under $200K. Come check out us. BCPA is having “Night of Lights” this saturday, starting at 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Meeting up at 2900 Hanes Ave and W Essex. Come and meet your future nieghbors.
