WRIR Radio supports the greening of Battery Park
WRIR Independent Radio (”Radio for the rest of us”) at 97.3fm has started its fall pledge drive, and has offered to contribute toward Battery Park for pledges and donations to the station of $200 and up. Last spring, the pledge drive benefited Friends of Forest Hill Park.
From a comment posted at North Richmond News comes the text of the pledge request to be aired during the fall pledge drive:
“Friends of Battery Park/Battery Park Civic Association are grateful to WRIR listeners who are helping us to restore trees and bushes to our park by donating $200 or more to WRIR. For more information, or to join our community eff orts to restore this gem of the Northside, contact ‘FriendsofBattery@yahoo.com’.”
As an alternative — or in addition — to pledging your support to WRIR and benefiting Battery Park, you can make donations directly to Friends of Battery Park for restoration of the park. Checks may be made out for tax deductible contributions to Richmond Recreation and Parks Foundation, with “Friends of Battery Park” in the subject line. Bring your check to to Battery Park Civic Association meeting Nov. 11 at 6:30p at Stone House (2803 Dupont Circle).

I hope that people will be able to help replacing some of the trees that have been lost since the flood. There were trees that were under water for a long perioo of time became stress and had to be cut down.
Thank you for your support
This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the Park. I hope a lot of money is raised. The park really needs our help.
Tonight is the last opportunity to meet the challenge for the
fundraising drive at WRIR (97.3fm).
Anyone who says they are donating to meet the challenge for Battery
Park residents will be contributing toward a tree/trees being planted
this spring. Any amount will help.
Thanks for all you are already doing for our community.
Thanks again WRIR and Friends of Battery Park, wherever you may live now, for supporting our park!
Let’s celebrate this spring! Anyone interesed in helping to plan a celebration/planting in the park, feel free to contact me at ginnie.morrow@yahoo.com.
