What’s happening in North Richmond: Week of July 13

The calendar is stacked with plenty of new events and activities for the entire month of July! Email us with your calendar submissions at north.richmond.news@gmail.com or use the contact link at the top of the page to submit news and information to North Richmond News. In the meantime, here are a few choice events taking place around North Richmond during the week ahead:

  • Throw down with your mad chess skills at a Chess Tournament at the Richmond Public Library’s North Avenue branch. Since you need to register in advance, you might just end up watching some up-and-coming chess players in action. The library is at 2901 North Avenue. Call 646-6675 for details.
  • Beat the heat with a visit to the Richmond Public Library’s Ginter Park branch this week and enjoy a variety of activities — the Adult Book Discussion Group on Monday from 6:00pm until 7:00pm; Baby and Toddler Story Time on Tuesday from 10:30am until 11:30am; Preschool Story Time on Thursday from 10:30am until 11:15am.
  • Drop by Lewis Ginter for an evening stroll Tuesday night during Families After Five or Thursday night for Flowers After Five. The garden is open until 9:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer.
  • Visit the Lakeside Farmer’s Market on Wednesday (two times — from 8:00am until 12 noon, or from 3:00 until 7:00pm) or on Saturday (from 8:00am until 12 noon).
  • Get educated at the Tree Maintenance Class: Focus on Mulching, Fertilizing, Pruning, Insect & Disease Management. Sponsored by the Ginter Park Residents’ Association. Wednesday from 7:00pm until 8:00pm at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church.
