Food Bank’s Community Kitchen looking for volunteers

The new Community Kitchen at the Central VA Food Bank is open for business and looking for volunteers. The partnership project between the Food Bank and Meals on Wheels is designed to:
  • Serve up to 10,000 meals daily in area Kids’ Cafes and seniors’ congregate settings, plus daily provide up to 3,000 home-delivered meals ‚ a remarkable 400% increase.
  • Support more food distribution sites, which currently encompass 50 Kids Cafes, 550 partner agencies and 2,600 dedicated volunteers who deliver meals.
  • While the morning slots for kitchen volunteers are filled, the kitchen is currently the Monday through Friday, 1:00 until 5:00 pm slots, and for the Saturday slot from 8 am until 12 noon.

      My 2 sons(18&21) and would like to volunteer at the Community Kitchen on Thanksgiving Day in the morning.We will help in any way. We can load boxes, haul trash, cook, clean-any help you may need.Please email back if you have any openings or know of other places to contact. My cell is 873-8768 or 248-2009.     2. I have a 4-h Club with about 10 members that would like to volunteer. Preferabily, on a Saterday, or Sunday.
