Get ready for the Garden Fest of Lights

It’s that time of the year — thousands of Richmonders will be flocking to North Richmond to take in the millions of lights (okay, half a million) that illuminate Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens each holiday season. The show runs nightly from 5:00 until 10:00 pm from November 23 through January 7 (except December 24, 25 and January 1).

In addition to the holiday lights, visitors can enjoy a range of other activities and decorations. Some highlights:

  • The kids will enjoy Merry Mondays every Monday evening (5 - 8 p.m.) through GardenFest feature storytelling by the Garden Keeper next to a cozy fire in the Library’s Reading Room (free with Garden admission) and the chance to purchase and make s’mores by a warming pit in the Children’s Garden.
  • Santa Brunches on Saturdays in December (December 1, 8, 15 and 22) offer the chance to join Santa for brunch in the Tea House. Dining is buffet-style with an assortment of kid-friendly items. Seatings are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and reservations are required: (804) 262-9887, ext. 329. Garden admission is not required to dine at the Santa brunches.
  • Holiday dinners are also available during GardenFest evenings in the Garden Cafe and in the Robins Tea House. The Garden Cafe offers a casual, self-service atmosphere while the Tea House offers an elegant setting overlooking the lights. Both include children’s menus. Reservations are not required for the Cafe; however, they are for the Tea House: (804) 262-9887, ext. 329. Please note the Tea House is limited to groups of 12 or fewer people.
  • Find great gifts in the Garden Shop! During GardenFest, the Shop is open Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Sunday, 1 - 10 p.m.
