TD Metro Business features Bellevue violin shop
Earlier in July, we missed the Times-Dispatch’s profile of Brooks Bozman, owner of Bellevue’s Mercury String Shop. Here’s a snippet from the longer article:
Bozman has been a professional cellist and teacher for 25 years and studied instrument repair in Baltimore while studying with Mihaly Virizlay of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. After a three-year course in instrument repair under James Cox, he served as a repair technician with Potter Violin Co. in Bethesda, Md. In 2003, he opened the Mercury String Shop in Petersburg. He moved it to Bellevue Avenue in 2005.
The shop not only repairs instruments but also sells and rents them. Voluptuous black cases lean languidly against one wall in the showroom. Basses and violas stand poised for performance.

violin keep losing tune. can this be repaired to be better
Yes, indeed. This issue can be attributed to weather because pegs can shrink as the air becomes colder and drier. The pegs may also need to be refitted, provided there is enough wood in the peg to allow for trimming. Please feel free to call Mercury Fine Violins to arrange a complimentary assessment.
