A tea party hangs in Stir Crazy
The Times-Dispatch has a brief spotlight on the latest art offering at Stir Crazy Café on MacArthur Avenue:
Stir Crazy Café, in Richmond’s Bellevue area, is celebrating tea and friendship in a show featuring art made mostly from tea bags.
Dale Keator, the artist, explains: “I’ve been enamored with tea bags since 9/11. They’re all about compassion and friendship and encapsulating the moment.” The tea bags Keator uses are recycled, as are the other components in her pieces. “It’s very important that the tea bags come from friends,” she says. “Part of the passion for me is the fact that the people who drank the tea are in conversation with someone else or in quietude, which lends history to the tea bags as well as the beautiful stains on them.”
The show runs through Sunday at Stir Crazy Café, 4015 MacArthur Ave. The café is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For details, call (804) 864-0264 or visit www.stircrazycafe.net.
