TD has update on Westbrook road repair
From this morning’s Street Beat column in the Times-Dispatch comes an update on a patchy street repair on Westbrook Avenue:
Q. Many months ago, when the new area of Westminster Canterbury was being built, a portion of Westbrook Avenue in front of Glebe Close was dug up. I think they were doing some kind of utility work. It looks like they put a temporary repair on this spot. But several months later, it has not been fixed, and driving over it is like driving into a giant pothole. I routinely see cars swerve to the far right to miss the worst part. Any hope that the city might be able to fix this? — Cynthia S.
A. We can always hope. But when several agencies get involved, they have to coordinate their efforts.
Britt Drewes of the Department of Public Works agreed that this portion of the road needs work. “It’s the job of the utility contractors,” she said. “When a utility crew works within the street, it’s their job to restore the roadway to its original condition. We are now working to call these crews back out to re-repair the roadway in accordance with our standards. Thanks for letting us know.”
